Who we are
VPNBreakdown ("we", "us", "our") operates this website to publish independent reviews and comparisons of VPN services. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the site, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
This policy applies only to VPNBreakdown. It does not cover the privacy practices of the VPN providers we review — please review their own policies before subscribing.
Information we collect
We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the site:
- Usage data — anonymised analytics such as pages viewed, referring source, browser type, device type, and approximate country (derived from IP).
- Cookies — small text files used for essential site functionality and to remember preferences such as your selected currency.
- Contact submissions — if you email us or use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, and the content of your message.
We do not sell personal information. We do not build advertising profiles about you.
How we use your data
We use the information above to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the website.
- Understand which content is helpful so we can create more of it.
- Respond to your questions and support requests.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
Affiliate links and tracking
When you click an affiliate link on VPNBreakdown, the destination provider may set cookies that identify us as the referring site so we can be credited for a resulting subscription. These cookies are set by the third-party provider, not by us, and are governed by their privacy policies. See our Affiliate Disclosure for more.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted third parties:
- Hosting and infrastructure — to serve the site.
- Analytics — to understand aggregate site usage.
- Affiliate networks — to track referrals to VPN providers.
Each of these providers processes data under their own privacy terms.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and the right to withdraw consent or object to processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@vpnbreakdown.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Data retention
We keep contact-form messages for as long as necessary to respond and follow up, and analytics data in aggregated form for up to 26 months. We remove personal data sooner on request.
Children's privacy
VPNBreakdown is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of the page.
